Format of the tournament

Scryings  ‐  Constructed Format

Scryings is an expansion of the Old School MTG (Swedish rules) format, introducing an additional curated list of cards from later sets including Fallen Empires, Ice Age, Homelands, Alliances, and Weatherlight. Released in 2019 by Magnus "Mg" De Laval, the Scryings card pool was designed to complement the original Old School card pool by incorporating 116 additional cards that align with the nostalgic feel and strategic depth of the format.

The added cards bring new tools and archetypes into the Old School environment, such as graveyard mechanics, tribal synergies, and flavorful legendary creatures. Examples include Argivian Find, Ashen Ghoul, Autumn Willow, and Balduvian Horde. Scryings retains the spirit of the Swedish Old School format by excluding overly modern mechanics while celebrating Magic's history up to Weatherlight (1997).

This format is embraced by portions of the Old School community looking to diversify deck-building and explore new strategies within the classic Magic era. It maintains compatibility with Swedish Old School rules, ensuring a balance between innovation and tradition.

More details about Pairings

Pairings

Pairings will be generated using SWISS Rules, considering a number of playable rounds determined by the total number of players.

Rounds:

  • 09 to 16 players = 4 rounds;
  • 17 to 32 players = 5 rounds;
  • 33 to 64 players = 6 rounds;
  • 65 to 128 players = 7 rounds;
  • 129+ = 8 rounds.

Top 16, 8, or 6 will be calculated, depending on the total number of players.

New rounds (and therefore pairings) will be played as soon as all players played theirs.
